that cheap u can get the african grey or the red tailed parrot ,i recommend the african gray ,totaly gray parrot and bit smaller than the maccaw as well less speakin ,u can teach it some words .. and it need a bit big cage even if u ll get one bird and they love seeds ,they open it and eat it s content like machin.

You can get one for cheaper than that! Parakeets are parrots and can learn just as well as any other large parrot!
But if you have to get a big one for hundreds of dollars, you can try going with an African Grey or a Quaker Parrot!

An African Grey is going to run you about $ 1,000. I also wouldn’t recommend them to a first time parrot owner. I would recommend a parrotlet however. I have several and they are wonderful pets with all of the personality as a big parrot, in a small package. They are not nearly as loud as a large parrot, african grey, or lovebird.

About Parrotlets:
Whoever coined the saying “good things come in small packages” probably had a Parrotlet as a pet. In spite of their small size (around 4 inches long), these little characters have all the personality and character of their larger cousins, the Amazons. Pronounced “Parrot-let” meaning little Parrot. Parrotlets are the smallest of the Amazon Parrots.

Parrotlets are amazing, intelligent, adaptable, energetic and are capable of speaking just like Parrots. FYI– Mfsuperspeed is absolutely INCORRECT about parakeets being able to talk. A budgie (parakeet) holds the world record for having the largest vocabulary of any bird at 1,728 words. This was in the 1995 Guiness Book of World Records. I’m unsure if this record has been broken, however, they CAN talk.
