Find a Question:
Hi would it be gay if I buy a Pug dog instead of big dog ?
Answer #2
Uhm, i don’t think you should get a dog at all if you’re considering it via vanity reasons and not the reasons of the dog itself. If you’re set on getting a dog you choose the breed via your lifestyle and living environment. Dogs take alot of training and big dogs more so, if you’re considering buying a large dog for appearance sake i seriously doubt you’ll be able to train it and care for it effectively and it’ll probably be another one of those poor things in rescue centers after a year.
Research breeds, match a dog to you and your lifestyle and for goodness sakes stop thinking about your appearance with the dog.
Answer #3
If you want to get yourself a dog for companionship, then get a dog. The type of dog you get is pretty much irrelevant, it won’t say anything about your sexual orientation.
As for female attention, getting yourself a “cute” dog will certainly get ladies paying attention to your dog, as to whether that attention extends to yourself, is entirely up to you. If you are friendly, unthreatening, willing to talk to people, then there is no reason why the tactic couldn’t work in your favour.
For heaven’s sake don’t go for an obviously “pulling” dog, get a dog that will fit your lifestyle. You may want to try your local dog rescue center first, for a single man living alone, this can often be a good solution. You get a dog that is healthy, is often already trained, and is guaranteed sociable. They can give you advice on what dog would be most suitable for your needs and circumstances.
Answer #6
Don’t buy any breed of dog if the only reason you want one is to attract women. Can’t you attract them with your charm? Maybe not if you’re immature enough to get a dog just to try to attract females.
Though I like Pugs I’ve never met a smart one yet. A friend of mine has two, a black and a fawn and these are NOT smart dogs.
Answer #7
if your thinking of getting a dog hoping to get the attention of women then your getting a dog for the wrong reason as they are a lot of work, but if your getting a dog just for the company alone then it wouldn’t make any difference if it was a pug or some other smaller dog and no it wouldn’t make you gay what ever dog you got yourself.
Answer #9
I think a pug would be a great friend for you.
You do not state its a girlfriend replacement, nor a chick magnet, i tend to talk to any guy with any breed. i am not sure why some of the ladies are assuming you are getting a pug to be a girlfriend replacement. maybe they are afraid all guys will think like that lol
i breed and show poms, and my hubby is proud to go outside walking the dogs, no one thinks hes gay!
Pugs are ideal for house pets, and im sure you will love your new best friend! Im sure you have done your research, and i wish you well in your adventure.

My best male friend has a French Bulldog and he has woman crossing the street to check little Torro out.
Pugs are simply adorable, rolly polly bundles of energy with a huge personality.
They do well in most living environments and make great companions.
Do some more research and speak to breeders.
And no, it wont be gay.
Answer #14
Pugs have breathing problems so not the best jogging companion. There are loads of small dogs more suited to what you want and any dog you own shows that you care about something which in itself will make you more attractive.
If you type ‘dog selector test’ into google you’ll get sites up with tests to do to to give you the best choices of dog breed for you. It’ll give you small energetic dogs and give you breed info on each to help you decide.
Hope that helps.
Sorry people have been abusive, but if you give them ANY reason to be shitty they will be – people can be very cruel… By gay if you mean ‘girly’ or ‘lame’ a white fluffy toy poodle may be more so than a Pug.
I’d go for a terrier if I were you. Most are small size and love to run and play, they’re feisty, cute and make great companions.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t get a pug… While they are smart and a very popular breed for many reasons…they are not good athletes because of their snout. They can’t go jogging with you and if you take them to the park, they will be fun, but you’ll be lucky to get an hour out him, suprisingly, wiener dogs are better athletes.
I have a golden and wouldn’t trade him for anything, but if I lived in an apartment and was thinking of a breed, I would lean towards a cocker spaniel, if I could find a mix of cocker and springer or brittany spaniel, even better(gives them just a little better size and broader skillset). What you get is a dog that isn’t too big, but not too small. As puppies, they are total chick magnets. They are bright and very trainable. They have hunting instincts that easily translate into frisbee skills, swimming games, fetch and other athletics. They are very good with their noses due to the hunting background. And they adapt their personality as needed…. they can be totally laid back social butterflies or they can be very smart watchdogs.
But if you want a pug, get a pug.

Pugs ROCK! I have one and he IS smart. He loves the car, the dog beach, he just loves to do about anything. I think for a smaller dog they are about as masculine as you can get. The only thing you list that I don’t think a pug would be good for is the jogging. I love my little guy and he gets attention where ever we go.

First off, pugs are chick magnets. But they are very game little dogs. They do well in small apartments. They can get their exercise playing indoors. However, they do not do well without a lot of attention. They need love and attention to be happy. Walks are fine, jogging you have to be careful and watch out for them. They are game little dogs, and won’t quit until you do. So you have to stop before they collapse. They are also happy to lay by/on your feet while studying. Pugs are very sensitive to heat and/or humidity, Those can kill a pug very quickly. Pugs are also heavy shedders.
Please do some research on pug needs and personalities. They are great companions. There was a reason why in the 1890′s they were called “dowager’s delight” because they are so in tune with their owners moods.

If you want ladies attention get a girl friend not a dog! A dog isn’t a partner substitute!
